DONATION TO TASA

DONATION TO TASA

This is a picture of a group of sledders who are part of the Snowmobile Club of Adams Co. Pa The club presented a $300 donation to TASA as a way of thanking TASA for the great job on grooming the area trails. TASA owes a big thanks to the Snowmobile Club of Adams Co, Pa! 10 of their 100+ members have been riding in the Newberry area for the past week (and some of the group has been riding TASA trails for several years!) and took time out of their schedule to stop by the TASA barn and present the donation to President Bob Brown (AKA Trail Boss Bob). Since December, Brian Richardson (pictured far left) has been in contact with TASA Secretary, Cathy Clementz several times to make arrangements to meet with members of TASA and present TASA with the donation. TASA warmly thanks the whole club and gives special mention to those that were able to make the trip to Newberry from Pennsylvania and Maine; Brian and Robin Richardson, Fred and Sandy Halbach, John and Wendy Devereux, John and Emma Hossler and Rodney and Gail Hale. THANKS!

Look Out Below!!!

Look Out Below!!!

One of our guests (who wants to remain nameless!) wants this collage of photos to serve as a warning to other sledders who might not realize the chance of an avalanche DOES exist in the Newberry area. Our nameless guest was sitting in a local establishment, enjoying his drink when he heard a sort of “roaring” sound and wondered “What the heck is that?” It sounded like it was coming from over head. When his other friends arrived to pick him up (nameless was having sled problems and needed to load his sled to get something fixed), they couldn’t figure out where nameless’s sled was…it HAD been there when they left to come back to the Little Lodge for the trailer. Nameless finally came outside only to find his sled BURIED under all of this snow that had slid off the roof! Fortunately, they were able to borrow a couple of shovels and dig the sled out. Aside from a broken pride there is also a broken windshield. So, two lessons; be careful where you park and yes there can be a HUGE amount of snow dropped in the U.P. JUST THAT QUICK!
