Western U P Snowmobile Trail Report

12/10/2025

Snow is in the forecast for Friday and Saturday.  Our temperatures will be in the single digits, with below-zero temperatures at night this weekend.  The good news is that this should help freeze up some of our water spots.

Please stay on marked trails. Riding on unmarked trails can result in the clubs losing easement for that trail.

Gogebic Range Trail Authority Groomer Report

Remember, it is early-season riding, so ride with care.

Trail 2 from Ironwood to Marensico is groomed and is in good shape.

Trail 8 was groomed last night to Tula and is in good shape.

Trail 11s has not been groomed going into Wisconsin.  Trail 11 has been groomed between trails 8 and 2.

Trail 160 is closed due to ongoing landowner hunting.  That will be opened on the 15th.

U.P. Thunder Riders Trail Report

UPDATED 12/8/25- We’ve been working daily with excavators and our tractor to clean up large blockages. Big thank you to UP Excavating, G-Force Trailers, and Jim B., who have been out for days with their mini-excavators, clearing trails. Groomers Gary and Jeff are clearing trails with our tractor, grapple bucket, and chainsaws. Without their efforts, we wouldn’t be anywhere near getting groomers out to pan. Also, a Big Thank you to the snowmobilers who showed up on sleds with chainsaws ready to work. Keith, Paul, and Tony arrived at the shop and then left to work. Antonio and Paul, who came out to the trails with chainsaws, were ready to join the effort. Also, many others who showed up and helped with clearing were never identified by name. We are closer, but it will likely be a few more days before the trail system is completely free of blockages. Also, thank you to our trail boss, Jim G, who coordinated the group and operated the mini-excavator—a little more patience. We are almost there
