This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for January 8, 2020:

Snowmobile trails are in good to very good condition throughout the Keweenaw. Trails are being groomed throughout the day.  

  • Valley Sno Drifters trail from Lake Linden to Dreamland Restaurant & Bar is OPEN!
  • The Portage Lift Bridge is open to snowmobile traffic. 
  • A reroute on Trail 133 around the Gay stamp sands is now open.
  • The “Mandan Trail” portion of Trail 134 is open.
  • Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden and the Freda Trail (south of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge) will be closed the entire season for repair. 

Remember when you’re out on the trails to watch out for the groomers.  They have the right away.

Please stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely.  The signs on the trails are there for rider’s safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

Houghton County has received a total of 94.5" of snow for the season and Keweenaw County has received 148.7" of snow for the season.

  • Today's forecast:Variable clouds with snow showers or flurries. High 12F. Chance of snow 40%. About one inch of snow expected.
  • Tomorrow: Variable clouds with snow showers or flurries. High 31F. Winds SSE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 70%. Snowfall around one inch. Higher wind gusts possible.
  • Friday: Cloudy. High 27F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph.
  • Saturday: Cloudy skies. High near 15F. Winds NNE at 10 to 20 mph.
  • Sunday:Cloudy. High 19F. Winds E at 10 to 20 mph.
